Notary Tip: When You Have The Wrong Address For The Loan Signing Appointment!

If you've been a signing agent long enough, you’ve been sent the wrong address 😂 Either by your client (escrow officer or signing service). UGH! So what do you do!? Your job at that moment is to call your current signing (the borrowers) and let them know you are going to be late and are on your way! I have found it best NOT to throw the escrow company (or Signing Service) under the bus and make it sound like it was your fault you are running behind. What the borrower thinks in terms of getting more business isn’t relative. Making your client look good in that moment will get you more business and it will solidify your relationship and make them feel like you are truly on the same team. The escrow officer (or Signing Service) will know it was their fault and feel immensely bad that you took the fall and that gesture will most likely guarantee not only their next signing but making you a fixture as a signing agent on their team! That is how I always turned lemons into lemonade!
